About
RadiMeter documents the IEC standards for radiation measuring instruments and provides free browser tools that perform their characteristic evaluation — the type test that checks whether an instrument meets the performance requirements of a standard. It describes 8 standards across the instrument classes of IEC subcommittee SC 45B, and adds evaluation tools standard by standard: the standard's own page first, then its test procedures, then the tool. The tools page lists which evaluations run today and what each planned one still needs.
Intended users
People who put instruments in front of a source: instrument manufacturers running acceptance checks, radiation safety officers verifying that a meter still behaves as specified, and radiation workers who need a defensible record of what an instrument did. The calculations are the ones such teams usually keep in a spreadsheet, with the arithmetic fixed and checked.
Origin
The calculation engine was written to replace a working spreadsheet that a testing team used for linearity, statistical fluctuation and energy response checks. The requirement was blunt: it had to reproduce that spreadsheet's results exactly, to the last decimal place, or nobody would trust it.
That constraint shaped the design. The engine is a set of pure functions with no dependence on the interface around them, and it is verified against a fixed set of reference vectors on every change, so results cannot drift quietly between versions. The same engine runs behind every evaluation on this site.
Coverage
The written material covers each standard, the instrument classes it applies to, the test procedures it specifies, and the reference topics that apply whichever standard you work to — operational quantities, reference radiation qualities, measurement uncertainty. Scope, acceptance criteria and clause numbers belong to each standard, so they are stated on that standard's own page rather than here.
Where an evaluation tool exists, it computes each test point, applies the acceptance criteria of the standard and reports a verdict per test and overall. It also computes the combined standard uncertainty of each result and carries it through to the relative response. That uncertainty is reported, not applied to the decision rule — see the Disclaimer for why the distinction matters.
Data handling
Everything runs in the browser. Instrument identifiers and readings are stored in your browser's local storage and are never sent to a server; the Excel export is generated locally. This is not a privacy feature added afterwards — it is how the program was built, and it means the tools work offline once loaded. The full detail is on the Privacy page.
Independence
RadiMeter is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the IEC, the ISO, or any standards or accreditation body. It is not a testing laboratory — nothing is tested here on your behalf and no report is issued. It cites clause numbers and describes methods in its own words; it does not reproduce the text or tables of any standard, and it is not a substitute for obtaining a standard from its publisher.
Roadmap
This is a beta. The engine is verified against reference vectors on every change, and the written material covers the standards, their test procedures and the reference topics. Work continues on breadth: each further instrument class needs its own acceptance criteria and, in several cases, a measurement condition the engine does not model yet — irradiation on a phantom for active personal dosemeters, elapsed time to readout for passive systems, spectrum uncertainty for neutron instruments.

Funding
It is free and there is no paid tier. There is no advertising on the site today; the intention is to fund it with contextual advertising once it leaves beta, which is why the Privacy page already says what will change when that happens.
