Privacy policy
The short version. The /calc/ calculators and Radiation Field Pro calculate in your browser. M-Phreefiteq sends calculation and validation inputs to its calculation engine, including when you are signed out. Account features and page-view counting differ by service, as described below. Advertising will be served by Google once ads are enabled, and that part will use cookies — the section on advertising below says exactly what that means and how to turn the personalised part off.
Who is responsible
Radiation Lab is an independent project run by its author. It is not a company and is not affiliated with the IEC, the IAEA, NIST, or any standards body or regulator. The author is the data controller for the limited processing described here and can be reached at contact@radiation-lab.com.
This policy covers radiation-lab.com and the three subdomains listed above. Each tool (the calculators, RadiMeter, M-Phreefiteq and Radiation Field Pro) has different data flows. Tool-specific privacy pages provide additional detail; see M-Phreefiteq's privacy page for its engine requests.
What stays on your device
The /calc/ calculators, Radiation Field Pro and RadiMeter worksheets perform their calculations in your browser. Inputs, presets, readings and display settings may be saved in local browser storage. Radiation Field Pro's JSON import and export also take place locally. Account-based saved work is described separately below.
M-Phreefiteq uses a server calculation engine hosted on Render. Opening a tool page requests engine status and database information; calculations and validation requests send the inputs needed for that operation, even without signing in. These network requests also expose connection information such as your IP address to the service. Downloading a result does not mean its calculation took place only in your browser.
Browser storage is separate for each origin. Each of the four sites keeps its own copy of the storage names it uses; a subdomain cannot directly read another site's local storage.
The application storage names used for saved work, settings and sign-in are listed below. These entries are browser storage, not advertising cookies.

What we collect
Server logs
radiation-lab.com, including the calculators, is served by Cloudflare; radimeter.radiation-lab.com, disposal.radiation-lab.com and pro.radiation-lab.com are hosted on Vercel. M-Phreefiteq's calculation engine is hosted on Render. Like any web host, these services record requests — IP address, user agent, the path requested and the time. These logs exist to serve the site and to deal with faults and abuse. We do not use them to build profiles and we do not combine them with anything else. Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Page-view counting
The page-view counter is used on radiation-lab.com, Radiation Field Pro, RadiMeter and M-Phreefiteq. On each of these sites, opening a page writes one row to our Supabase database: which laboratory and path was opened, and the host name of the site you came from, if any. To avoid counting one reader as many, the server combines your address, your browser string and a secret value that is regenerated every day into a one-way hash, and stores only that hash. The address itself is never stored, and once the day's secret is discarded the hash cannot be reversed. The deliberate cost: returning on another day counts as a new visitor.
This counter plants no cookie and no identifier on your device. If you would rather not be
counted at all, open radiation-lab.com/?rl_nocount=1 once and this
browser is excluded on every page of radiation-lab.com; ?rl_nocount=0 reverses it.
Radiation Field Pro, RadiMeter and M-Phreefiteq keep their own switch: add ?rl_nocount=1 to an address on each once
as well. That
preference is the only thing the counter ever writes to your device, it is written only because
you asked for it, and it carries no identity.
If you create an account
Public information pages, the /calc/ calculators, Radiation Field Pro and M-Phreefiteq calculations can be used without an account. RadiMeter currently requires sign-in to open its testing tool. Account-based saved work and custom-species features are available only in the services that offer them. Radiation Field Pro has no account feature.
Where sign-in is offered, it uses Google. We request the email and profile scopes only
and receive your email address and the name on your Google account; we do not touch any other
Google data. If you choose to fill them in, a display name, organisation, job title and role are
also stored, as are any saved results and custom species you create. The same account works on
radiation-lab.com, RadiMeter and M-Phreefiteq, because these services use one Supabase project.
Each stores its sign-in session separately in its own browser storage. Radiation Field Pro is
not part of this shared account system.
External fonts
Radiation Field Pro loads font stylesheets and font files from Google Fonts. Your browser makes requests to Google's font servers to display them. These requests are separate from Google sign-in and advertising.
The former community boards
This site ran a public community board and, inside the disposal laboratory, a board for signed-in members. Both were closed on 6 October 2026: their pages are gone and the site no longer offers any way to read or add posts. The few posts made on them remain stored in the database under the account that wrote them; they are not shown anywhere. Deleting your account deletes them with it, and you can ask for them to be deleted at any time through the contact page.
Messages sent through the contact page are a separate store and are never published.
Advertising
No advertising is running on this site today. It is intended to be funded by advertising served through Google AdSense, and this section is written in advance so that the terms are known before the first ad appears rather than after. Everything below applies from the moment an ad is first served:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent notice before any advertising or analytics cookie is set, and can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the same notice. Declining does not restrict access to any tool on this site.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with anyone beyond the processors above.
How long it is kept
Server logs follow the host's own retention. Page-view rows keep no reversible identifier and are retained as aggregate history. Account data is kept while the account exists and is deleted on request.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data held about your account, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for the account and everything attached to it to be deleted. Write to contact@radiation-lab.com; deletion requests are acted on within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK you also have the right to complain to your national supervisory authority.
Children
This site is aimed at professionals and students in radiation protection and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the home page.
